The AI Board: our new name, our new chapter
We have exciting news to share. The AI Board is the new name for the UK's only Ofqual-regulated awarding body built exclusively for AI and data qualifications.
This isn't a change in who we are. It's a clearer expression of who we've already become. As our work has evolved, so too has our identity. Our focus has always been on artificial intelligence—its safe, ethical and effective use across education and the workplace. Our new name brings that focus front and centre.
The AI Board now states who we are in a much more explicit fashion. It says, plainly and confidently, what we stand for. It reflects both our specialism in AI and our role in setting standards, providing oversight, and supporting high-quality practice. It feels like a natural next step, one that aligns with our purpose and the direction of travel across the sectors we serve.
Just as importantly, we want to reassure you about what isn't changing. The organisation behind the name remains exactly the same. The same people, the same leadership, the same governance and quality assurance processes. Our qualifications, our services, and our commitment to supporting centres, learners and partners all continue as before. There is no shift in standards, no change in expectations, and no disruption to the work we are doing together.
What you will start to notice over the coming weeks and months is a refreshed look and feel. Our new name and branding will gradually appear across our materials and communications. We'll make sure this transition is smooth and straightforward, keeping everything clear and consistent along the way.
This change is really about clarity and confidence. As AI continues to play a bigger role across education, industry and society, it's important that our identity reflects the space we operate in and the standards we uphold.
We're really excited about this next chapter as The AI Board. It gives us a stronger platform to do what we've always set out to do – that is, support safe, ethical and high-quality use of AI, and help people build the skills they need to use it well.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
P.S. If you are already working with us, or currently in the process of joining, we will be in touch shortly with clear guidance on how to communicate the name change to existing learners and to anyone who may have previously engaged with the organisation under our former name.
